About

I am a Medical Mama. It is my favorite job, and my son is my favorite human. I am on a journey in this life, intertwined with his journey. Writing has always been my therapeutic way to process everything life is throwing my way, and I love sharing our story. This is a place for authenticity. I won’t sugar coat life or wrap things up in a neat little bow; rather, I will be honest. It won’t always be pretty. But you can always trust it.

  1. All of you are in our prayers every day. Great grandpa Jack is like a different person since seeing and holding K. Jack is sure he will do alright. From his lips to God’s ear.

  2. You are amazing yourself!!! And you are not the first one to put wet dishes away. Yes something has to give and your priorities are changing. Your aunt Kathy says to take time each day to count your blessings. There is a little girl named Evelyn who is one year old and had never been out of the hospital. She has already had heart surgery. Love every moment you have at home.

  3. Aunt Kathy and I wish you and yours the gift of peace this Christmas season. May the one who formed Kiran in your womb give you peace as He works out this miracle.

  4. Living in the moment. That is the key to joy. You live in the moment. It is the gift God leaves for you to stumble over and then draw close. God bless your moments.

  5. From Great aunt Kathy… that little boy is part Messenger so he can do anything he puts his mind to. When I held him at Christmas, I saw a small body filled with a great strength. IN MY GUT I KNOW HE WILL PULL THROUGH ANYTHING THAT LIFE DUMPS HIS WAY. LOVE YA BOTH.

  7. You will know you have been to the ER too many times when they see you coming and run screaming to lock the door. (This is your aunt Kathy making a joke.)

  8. Hi! I just read your “Can you see me” post and about broke down in tears. I was in your position, too, when my daughter was only a few months old. She had nystagmus (shaking/dancing eyes) and never looked us in the eye which was so heartbreaking. The U of I is an incredible place for pediatric ophthalmology (we see and LOVE Dr Drack). My daughter is now 15 months and even though she’s missing quite a bit of her retinas (they never developed) she’s actually ahead of the game now visually. You are doing an incredible job getting it checked out early–early intervention is key and I believe that’s one reason things are going so well for us now. Not to mention the cute baby glasses are a plus! I’m here if you need to chat–I’ve been there and know the journey is hard. Our blog is found here : http://amandakschneller.wix.com/simplyflourish

Side note: My sister, Jill (Price) Jacobson told me about your blog. Your little boy is the absolute cutest! Wishing you all the best!

  9. Just got back from seeing the heart doctor with grandpa Jack. The doctor said he knows of Dr. Hanley and says he is the best in pediatric cardiology. Our Kiron deserves the best. Grandpa is a pain in the butt but fine. Love ya.

  10. Just know that there are people out here who know and love you. You are in our prayers and we consider your little family (Holly, Arif, AND Kiron) a special blessing to us all. Just remember to count your blessings each and every day. (Written in response to blog of April 5).

  13. Was touched by your blog on grieving. I too grieve because I always wanted children and was unable to have them. In a little part of my heart I am jealous of all your worries. You continue in my prayers.
